Forrest Lakes

Last weekend we went up north to Forrest Lakes with our friends Tim and Jen and Matt and Vanessa and all of our kids. It was so nice to go away for a bit and get out of the heat. We stayed at Vanessa's aunt and uncle's cabin. The night that we got there a huge thunder storm rolled through. The lightning was hitting right outside the cabin. It was so scary. Saturday we went on a nice hike through the woods then we just hung out around the house. We played games at night after the kids went to bed. I don't think I have laughed that hard in a long time. Sunday we went to Christopher Creek and had a picnic and played in the creek. We got into trouble because we parked in the camping area and the park ranger was not happy with us. Woops. The kids had a blast. Donovan was not too sure about it until he fell in, then he would not get out of the water. We wish that we could have stayed longer. When we were heading home we got about 20 minutes away from the cabin when Mikey realized that he put 3 sodas in the freezer and no one ever took them out. We had to turn around and go back and take them out. Thank God we remembered. I don't think Tom and Linette would have been too happy with us when they saw their freezer. I think this will become a yearly ritual. We want to go up there when it is snowing.
